Bathroom Renovation: Day 5 & 6

Nobody gonna steal this toilet. No.bo.dy. You can just about see our sexy new heated towel rail in its wrapping back there. Floor tiles have gone down and are chillaxing before the grouting is done. Oh, the agony that went into deciding what direction they should go in (the room is basically L-shaped, meaning whether horizontal or vertical placement, there’s always a wall or nook that is at odds with the direction. In the end we went with the predominant directional flow of the room and aligned with base of sink, wall to left, and line of tub as seen from doorway.) Shower is tiled and has been grouted. Shower wall… And the tub is in place… It’s by German manufacturer Kaldewei (they’ve been around since 1918) and is called “Puro” from the “Ambiente” line.

There’s still quite a bit left to do, so there’s no way they’ll be finished by tonight.

Last weekend we managed to find a ceiling light for the bathroom that we didn’t think was revolting (seriously, there is a small selection of ceiling lamps appropriate for bathrooms available in our neck of the woods.) It’s by Swedish company Mark Slöjd and carries the exotic name Jane. No, really. The lamp is set on a square of glass.

So am I about ready for this bathroom remodel to be over?

You betcha.

Hmmm, I somehow missed day 1-4. You have been busy. Duravit is always good, except for that weird retangular toilet they have. Never got that. Your bathroom is going to be good and your cat is gorgeous.

Hahaha, yes, the rectangular toilet! We saw it at the showroom and said no way were we ever getting something that ridiculous. Try getting a replacement seat for that in a normal store if it ever breaks… even the sales people didn’t try to convince us.

I’m loving the big tiles. It’s coming along fabulously! xx

Love the cat guarding the tiles!! We’ve just had an offer accepted on a house, so I’m now reading your blog with added glee, thinking, “That’ll be me, soon!” Emma 🙂
